“Queer Science” is the first lesbian short film on the Nicole Conn Films Global Production board website. The Lesbian Sci-fi rom-com was selected by Nicole Conn to be the first independent project to promote on their production board for its originality and genre bending story telling. The imaginative project comes from writer director Nicole De Meneses. A Bay Area filmmaker that conceived of and wrote the intrepid script during the beginning of the covid pandemic. Challenging herself to create a project limited to one location and two actors that could interact while practicing social distancing. The imaginative nature of the story will be served by practical effects and greenscreen work.
“Queer Science” follows Max, a struggling comedian who plans to propose to her workaholic grad student girlfriend Dani over the weekend. But Dani cancels their plans to finish her food shrinking experiment in order to make her final grant proposal deadline. Max gets upset and Dani accidentally spills the shrink serum on her. Max shrinks to the size of a Brussels sprout. Dani must fix the experiment in time to meet the grant deadline, mend Max’s hurt feelings and reignite their stalled relationship.
The short film will star local stand-up comedian Irene Tu as Max. In 2017, the San Francisco Chronicle singled her out as an “artist on the brink of fame.”
Jennifer Korman stars as Dani. Jennifer Koman is a Taiwanese-American actor born and raised in San Francisco. She graduated early from UCLA with two degrees and went to law school because her dad really wanted a lawyer in the family. After graduating from UC Hastings, Jennifer promptly decided to pursue acting.
