Lockdown has been in place now for several weeks. And whilst easing is being discussed; not everyone is ready for it.
We will not start up Lesflicks Film Clubs until we are confident that it is safe to do so. However, we do need to be prepared for when it is safe to do so. Now is a great time to gather together, to stand up and be counted and to tell us that you want lesbian films in the cinema where you live!
We are putting together a selection of feature films released over the last 12-36 months which have not had a cinema release in the UK; or that only screened in one or two locations. We are looking to hold film clubs to bring these to the big screen and also to help provide space to connect back with your community.
In order to negotiate space and to secure the films; we need to start gauging numbers now. We also need to know where we need to hire and train film club hosts.
Lesflicks Film Clubs have already taken place in London, Birmingham and Manchester in 2019 and early 2020. If you want us to bring our hosted film club to your town, stand up and be counted; and invite your friends to join too. The more women who are signed up in a location, the easier it is for us to secure the film and to secure the space.
