Showcasing the power of cinema in uniting strangers

WHEN ABBIE MET Emmy is a short film from director Kevin Walls and is the story of shy cinema fan Abbie (Rachel Flynn) and solo cinema lover Emmy (Kim Allan).

This is a silent short film with an extremely clever classic cinema soundtrack. It was exquisitely put together and was clearly inspired by the great John Williams with hints of ET, Jurassic Park, Superman and Star Wars combined with a little Disney magic. The composers on this short film deserve a BAFTA!

The colour of this film followed the story arc too, starting darker and gaining more colour as the relationship began to form until we get to see them both in full technicolour.

No longer can you think of the cinema as an anti-social place. This film shows that the cinema, and films, are better experienced with other people; how powerful films can move us; and how you just might meet someone special who shares your love of film!

It is hard to think that this is a silent film becuase there is so much emotion on the screen from the music and the actors that you are pretty much narrating the story yourself in your head.

A true cinematic masterpiece.
