We’re so excited that Happiest Season has been picked up for distribution in the UK!
We had already given you a heads up of this film back in December when we included Happiest Season in our 7 lesbian films to look out for in 2020. However back then there was limited information.
As filming is due to start, the final cast has been announced. Along with the UK distributor and US cinema release date (November 2020).
It is worth noting that we don’t know what date eOne plan to release the film in the UK yet, but as soon as we hear, we’ll let you know!
We also don’t know how many cinemas they will be able to secure – cinemas take films if they think that they can fill seats. This is one of the main reasons Lesflicks launched – so we can tell you where and when to find a lesbian film in a cinema so we can fill seats and prove there is an audience for lesbian films. We want to make sure films get released as widely as possible.
In 2019 films such as Vita & Virginia, JT LeRoy and My Days of Mercy had extremely limited releases. We know why, but to improve things we need your help!
Helping to get lesbian films into cinemas where you are
We have until around July/August to prove audiences in locations to help eOne negotiate cinema screenings so you can see this film as intended on the big screen. So what can you do?
- Join our newsletter and include your location
- Invite your friends to join the newsletter with their location
- Share this article on your social media and with your friends – remember to use the hashtag #HappiestSeason and tag us (@lesflicks) so we can share!
We will use this data to help strengthen the case – the more women we can get in a location, the more liklihood there is of getting it into a cinema – it really is that simple!
