An interesting perspective on how you visualise what your partner is saying
THE HALF WALL is a short film from writer, director and producer Ida Hansen Eldøen. It is the story of Karina (Anne Kristine Olden) and Idunn (Siri Farstad), a couple on their lunch break discussing how to renovate the bathroom of their cabin.
This is a great short film that many will easily be able to empathise with. This film shows how easily we can misunderstand those closest to us, and how that can lead to petty quarreling and pressing the buttons of your partner. I flinched at one point when the flask was used by Karina, and not handed to Idunn who had to take it and pour her own drink; something that many quarreling partners have done many a time.
I loved the normality of this film. You could have replaced the cast with a male and female and it would have translated without any changes. This is a refreshing and welcomed change. The whole film takes place on a bench with a lake in the background. The peaceful setting works well for this dialogue and showcases the beauty of Norway.
