SaFFlicks Pride Film Fest returns for Pride Month 2026 with a vibrant hybrid celebration of sapphic storytelling, bringing together five standout short films that centre lesbian, bisexual and women-loving-women experiences across comedy, drama and documentary.
Launching in person at L FEST: Back to Basecamp in Shrewsbury from 5–7 June before moving online via Lesflicks from 8–21 June, the festival offers audiences the chance to discover fresh independent voices and authentic queer stories from the UK and the USA.
This year’s programme includes Lez Be Honest, a fast-paced comedy where young couple Scarlett and Eleanor prepare for Eleanor to come out to her lesbian parents over dinner, only for the evening to descend into absolute chaos involving nudity, anxiety pills, unconscious parents and a kitchen fire.
In What Friends Are For, queer bisexual Eden navigates a diagnosis of vaginismus while dating a cis man for the first time, enlisting their lesbian best friend Grace to help challenge assumptions around sex, intimacy and what “normal” really means.
Why We Pride is a heartfelt documentary exploring the people behind Southend Pride and the importance of visibility, belonging and community-led queer spaces in places often overlooked in wider LGBTQ+ conversations.
In Playground, Grace and Jas have enjoyed the freedom of an undefined relationship, until an uncomfortable social moment forces them to finally ask whether their connection has a real future or if they have been avoiding the truth.
Completing the programme isTrapped which brings psychological tension as longtime neighbours Gina and Alexa become stuck in a stalled elevator, turning a chance encounter into an intense confrontation filled with secrets, suppressed emotions and unexpected attraction.
The films will appear on 8 June 2026; and will be removed on 21 June 2026. If you purchase a pass you have 14 days to watch the films.
SaFFlicks Pride Film Fest is more than a screening programme. It is a celebration of queer women’s stories, creativity and community, creating space for audiences to laugh, reflect and connect through films that deserve to be seen.
